State Resources
Like all other states, Massachusetts has several federally funded assistive technology programs. These programs vary in information and services, yet all help identify local assistive technology ideas and resources.
The Commonwealth’s initiative, Maximize Assistive Technology (AT) in Consumer’s Hands is a resource that provides more information about AT programs and services in the state.

Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers
There are 10 federally funded regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers (DBTAC) that provide information to businesses, people with disabilities, and others on accommodation and accessibility issues, as well as other ADA information. A full listing of DBTACs is contained in the resource section under Americans with Disabilities Act and Other Legal Information.

National Resources
Alliance for Technology Access
The Alliance for Technology Access (ATA) is dedicated to increasing the use of standard, assistive, and information technologies for people with disabilities. The ATA has a variety of resources, including a library, to help identify appropriate technology. The ATA is also a publisher of the comprehensive Computer and Web Resources for People with Disabilities.

Job Accommodation Network
The Job Accommodation Network is a federally funded program that provides free information and consultation service about job accommodations and other job-related information. You can research accommodation options at the JANs website through a searchable online database (SOAR). JAN also has consultants who can assist you by phone to identifying possible accommodations. These consultants have instant access to the most comprehensive and up-to-date information about accommodation methods, devices, and strategies.

Virtual Assistive Technology Center
The Virtual Assistive Technology Center (VATC) helps make computers and computer programs more accessible to individuals with disabilities. Freeware and shareware programs that help people with disabilities use computers may be downloaded at their website. The site also features information, publications, a message board, and links to related web sites. A free newsletter is also available.
The Institute for Human Centered Design
The ICHD is a Boston-based organization that works to enhance the work experience for people with all abilities. ICHD provides a variety of services including accessibility consulting for public and private organizations and businesses. The ICHD also serves the New England ADA Center.
