Increasing Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities
Within the first 30 days of his administration, Governor Deval Patrick made a commitment to continued improvement in the recruitment and retention of under-represented groups of people in the workforce, including people with disabilities.
The Governor asked the private sector to join him in becoming model employers and to tell him what businesses need from government to be successful in this area. Massachusetts employers answered the Governor’s call and in 2010 led an effort that brought businesses and other stakeholders together to advise the governor on what government can do to support businesses, as well as what employers can do for themselves, to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities in our state.
