Jessie Hampton always knew she wanted to work. For more than twenty years Jessie worked in sheltered workshops, and on job sites supervised by human service agencies. What she really wanted was a job she could call her own. Her current service provider, CLASS, Inc., knew that many of the people it was serving who have intellectual disabilities could be successful in their own jobs. They decided to make some changes in the services they provide and Jessie was one of the first to step up and ask for help to find a regular job.
“I fully enjoy having a job which gives me freedom and responsibility.”
Today Jessie works at a local supermarket as porter and is a union member. She enjoys interacting with customers and making her own money. Jesse believes her opportunities are limitless and describes her life now. “I fully enjoy having a job which gives me freedom and responsibility.”
