There are several online sites that help your clients to find transportation to and from work by asking them for a starting address and an ending address, and then calculating the best route. These online trip planning tools can help you to find buses, trains, and even walking routes to help your client reach their destination.

MBTA Trip Planner
An online tool by the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) that helps you chart routes on MBTA public transit.

Google Transit
Plan your route to work with Google Transit in four Massachusetts regions: Pioneer Valley, Cape Cod, Framingham and Lexington. Click on your community’s link to map your destination using public transportation. More communities in the state may be added in the future.

Hop Stop
Calculate routes throughout Massachusetts and other major cities. Click on the “Boston” link and enter your starting and ending address.

Bridgewater State Geographics Lab
The Massachusetts Internet Transit Planner (halfway down this site) calculates routes for the following areas: Brockton , Berkshire , Cape Ann, Cape Cod, Franklin, Greater Attleboro-Taunton, Lowell, Martha’s vineyard, MBTA, Merrimack valley, Montachusett region , Nantucket, Southeastern Massachusetts, Pioneer Valley, and Worcester.

MassRIDES
MassRIDES is the Executive Office of Transportation’s free statewide travel options program. MassRIDES helps to reduce congestion and improve air quality across the Commonwealth by encouraging travelers to use options such as ridesharing, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, and walking. The MassRIDES online ridesharing service connects travelers with people who share similar commutes. Registration is free.
