Disability Statistics

The United Census Bureau defines disability as determined by the 6 standard questions asked in the American Community Survey (ACS). All sources below utilize this definition as their basis. https://www.census.gov/topics/health/disability/guidance/data-collection-acs.html

Bureau of Labor Statistics Report

Comprehensive data around Labor force participation and unemployment on page 4. More slices can be found on pages 7+. It’s updated annually once previous data comes out in January.  You cannot filter/dynamic search.

Disability Statistics.org

Cornell University provides a user friendly online resource tool for Disability Statistics that pulls from ACS data. You can filter by prevalence, employment, poverty, etc.

American Fact Finder

Starting in July, data.census.gov will be the primary way to access Census Bureau data, including upcoming releases from the 2018 American Community Survey, 2017 Economic Census, 2020 Census and more. After July 1, 2019, all new data (previously released on American FactFinder) will be released on this new data platform.

American FactFinder (AFF) will remain as an “archive” system for accessing historical data until spring 2020.
